Today is Sam’s birthday. TECHNICALLY, he isn’t two until 6:36pm but we are celebrating all day today and tomorrow. Actually, I guess you could say we have been celebrating since yesterday. After his accident a church, we decided to go on ahead and give him his birthday present- his own kitchen and some play food! He LOVES playing with toy kitchens and I managed to locate one for $20 at Family Dollar and it is perfect. Travis put it together yesterday afternoon and then Sam immediately started playing with it.

His favorite part is the microwave. Now maybe he will just push the buttons on his and avoid our big one!

He doesn’t understand to use his play food to pretend cook with yet. He just dumps it out on the floor and pretend eats all of it! I am sure he will figure it out soon enough though.
Then, today, we started the day off with breakfast at our favorite local breakfast joint- The Border. Our waitress brought Sam out a birthday pancake and sung to him. He cried and tried to climb out of the high chair. We think the candle scared him since he knows not to play with flames. He calmed down once we blew out the candle.

BUT, he really got excited when he discovered what cool whip tastes like. I think this might have been the first time he had eaten cool whip but I am not 100% on that.

Sam normally has speech therapy on Mondays. However, his therapist called this morning to reschedule it because one of her girls is sick with a fever and had to go to the doctor. Therefore, we were able to eat lunch with Travis. YAY! We took Sam to his favorite Mexican restaurant for lunch and he chowed down on his mini bean and rice burrito and spanish rice. He was getting tired, and was being silly, thus the reason he is holding his burrito the way he is.

While we were waiting for Travis to pay for lunch, Sam and I headed out to the fountain outside of Last Palmas. However, they had drained the water!! It was kind of sad and caused Sam to be a little confused. However, he quickly figured out he could still climb on the brick even if the water was gone.

I tried to get a picture of him modeling his birthday shirt I made for him. The shirt is a bit on the large side but it was the smallest shirt Michael’s had and it is a youth small. If you look closely, you can see the lump and beginnings of a huge bruise on Sam’s forehead.

We then took pictures of each of us with the birthday boy.

Sam fell asleep on the way home so he is now getting his birthday nap in. He looks so peaceful when he sleeps. I love this boy SO MUCH!

Tonight we have no plans. Tomorrow night, we will finish our little family celebration of Sam’s birthday by going to Red Robin so he can get his free birthday meal and see the Robin. Sam L-O-V-E-S going to Red Robin because we try to only go when Red, the mascot, is there visiting. Sam loves mascots. I will post about his birthday supper tomorrow. Yay for birthdays!!!
