First of all, I want to start with something not fun… a Hurricane Katrina “thing” being constructed at I-10. It is marking the high water mark. Keep in mind, this Interstate is about 8 miles inland and my parents live 1/2 mile inland AND the land around the Interstate is built up on a pretty tall hill.

CRAZY!!

Now onto the fun… Sam has been waking up early in the morning and crawling in the bed with my mom and dad. One morning, my mom and I were up and Sam and my dad were still in bed. It was too cute so I had to take a picture.

Tuesday morning, we took Sam to the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport. He went just after he turned 1 and had fun but was very limited in what he could do since he wasn’t walking too well then. This time, he tried EVERYTHING and he had a blast. They have one of those spiderweb things that you get inside and climb. This is what he looked like last year climbing it…

Thankfully, this year he could do it by himself. I had to stay hunched over the whole time so my back was killing me by the time we climbed it! He really enjoyed climbing it by himself though.

Once he got out, he spotted the train and so he played on it for a LONG time. He had his own little tea party!

The train ran out of power so Sam had to throw more coal in. That required him to wear his engineer hat.

Then he realized he is supposed to dress up for high tea on a train.

Once he had his fill of tea, he caught some crawfish.

Travis and Sam then flew an airplane.

Then he had to go “make groceries.” Only on the Gulf Coast do they include Zatarains fish fry and other cajun items in the kiddie grocery store.

Once he had all of his groceries rounded up, he headed over to the TV studio for his cooking special.

Apparently, he got frustrated with his cameraman so he decided to take over the filming aspect as well.

Then he needed to make sure the cameras were airing the correct stuff.

After playing around a little more inside, we headed outside to their tree houses and town. Sam and I climbed to the top of the big tree house. It was neat!

He and my mom had to pause for a photo op.

Trying to ride the tricycle. He legs were about an inch too short and the seat wasn’t adjustable. However, he could roll down hill well on it! 🙂

That evening, mom and I took Sam to the Waveland library. They finally have a building since Katrina destroyed the other one and this was the first week they were open. They have a really cool pirate ship in their kid’s section.

I like the parrot.
