Wow! I feel like I am ALMOST fully caught up with the blog. Whew!

This past weekend, we visited Travis’ parents. Sam LOVES going over there because they have all sorts of animals for him to interact with- dogs, cows, and chickens. He is in Dr. Doolittle heaven! HA! In fact, he stays outside more than he stays in when we are there because he has to explore everything.

The first thing he checked out when we got there Friday were the cows. This cow walked straight up to the fence like she wanted to have a conversation with Sam.

So Sam offered her some grass…

which she apparently didn’t like because she head-butted towards the fence, scaring Sam, and causing him to not stand as close anymore…

We let Peeper run off-leash the entire weekend and he loved it. We’ve always kept him leashed because he used to go exploring and after chasing him down to the creek once, we decided the leash was the best route. However, this weekend we were “livin’ on the edge” and let him wonder. He did great! I think we will definitely be doing that more on future visits.

Sam really enjoyed checking out “Mum Gail’s” new hammock…

So did Travis and I…

Sam and his “Papa Earl” went to check on Cousin Barry who was clearing some trees that had been damaged by some earlier storms.

After checking on the trees, Sam and Mum Gail headed off to go play in the creek.

Sam walked part of the ways with his favorite dog, Heidi.

Once we got down there, he had to find his throwing rocks.

He really liked the BIG one…

because it made a BIG splash.

After some coercion, Mr. “I don’t like for my feet to get dirty” got in the creek (while wearing his flip flops- he would NOT go barefoot)

They found some “baby wees” (baby fish) to look at.

Most of all, Sam enjoyed “running” in the water.

When we finished with the creek, Sam helped Mum Gail water her flowers.

The first night was concluded with a bath. Sam learned that because their tub has a sloped end, he could slide down the back of the tub and into the water. He enjoyed doing this.

The next morning, we headed to Greer, SC to visit my grandma. While we were waiting on her to finish getting ready, Sam and his great-Uncle Don checked out the baby birds that were getting fed by their mommy.

Then Sam played with Mama. He found a little tennis ball and gave it to Mama and she would throw it to Sam. Then he would hand it back to her. They did this several times. Before we left, I got a picture of the two of them together. In two-plus years of taking pictures of the two of them, I have yet to get one where they are both looking at me and my camera. UGH!

Mum Gail discovered Sam’s love of “gummies” and has hooked him up with a lifetime supply! This picture reminds me of a cross stitch my mom made for one of my grandparents. It reads, “Kids get spoiled because it’s hard to spank grandparents.” HA HA!!

After eating lunch with Travis’ parents, we came back home on Sunday. It was a fairly uneventful trip and I failed to take any pictures until that night after Sam had gone to bed. I will post that pic later.

Whew! Now I am caught up on all of our traveling posts. YAY!!
