We’ve had a fun 4th of July as a family.

First, we had a red, white and blue breakfast treat. It was delicious!

Then we went to the zoo and checked things out. Sam hadn’t been since we returned from our trip. The first “new” thing was the mommy peacock and her new baby.

Next “new” thing were porcupine feet. That might sound silly but usually the porcupine sleeps so that we can just see his quills. We’ve never seen his feet before. They were kind of cute.

Our sad “new” thing is Jabo’s empty chamber. It still makes me sad.

The otters were actually out- a rarity!

The HUGE American Alligator was carrying three pennies! HA! (Two are on his head and one is on his back.

After that morning fun, we hung out at the house, ate supper, and then headed to the riverfront to watch fireworks with our friends, The Millers. They are both music faculty here at LC and they have an 18 month old son who Sam adores playing with. I think the feeling is probably mutual. 🙂

We took “yellow car” and both boys sat in it for awhile before wanting to get out and walk around while we waited. Once the show started, Sam sat in the yellow car for most of the fireworks but Bowden sat in his mom’s lap. Both did well and LOVED the fireworks. It was a fun evening.

Again, Travis manned the camera and took firework pictures for us. Here are a few.

We definitely had a fun day celebrating our Nation’s freedom! Thank you for all who have served over the years to protect us!
