After spending some time with Mum Gail and Pop Pop Earl, Sam and I drove back across the border into SC. We went to Greer to visit with my grandma and Dad for a couple of days. Sam LOVES visiting with Mama because he loves all her “cool toys”- HA! He has gotten really good at steering her wheelchair. Mama is even brave enough to let Sam push her back to her room! I am his mom and I don’t know if I could handle that! Hee Hee!

She has one of those walkers with wheels and a seat and Sam eats all of his meals on that walker when we visit. It makes me laugh.

Yes, we eat a lot of Bojangles when we go to SC because my favorite meal there is gluten free and there are NO Bojangles anywhere near us. 😦 They do look at you like you are crazy when you tell them you don’t want their amazingly delicious biscuit though. 🙂

Mama has always kept random things on her fridge. Currently, there are drawings from some of my cousins (the youngest is in high school) from when they were elementary age, various newspaper clippings, and my Carson-Newman faculty ID. I think it is random that it is on the fridge but she was excited when I got my first “real” job after graduating seminary. I think it is even funnier that Travis is the Vice President for Academic Affairs at LC and I had a job in “higher ed” before he did. Obviously, he has passed me now though. 🙂

Sam likes to sleep in total darkness- even night lights bother him. So, my dad and I tried to rig up a blanket to act as a curtain to block all the lights of Wal-Mart from shining in Sam’s room. I really like how it ended up looking more like a stained glass window!

Sam is definitely a water baby like me. We went to my Aunt’s house almost every day to play in her pool. Thanks SO MUCH, Aunt Brenda!!

My cousin had to do something for work one morning while we were there so he dropped his kids off at Mama’s to play with Sam. They had a blast! They played chase in the back yard…

Did LOTS of chalk drawings…

Sam even chalked Dad Buddy’s Duster! 🙂

Driveway bowling was a hit! Sam “had” to show them how to do it…

Shortly after lunch, Ryan came back and picked them up and so my mom, Sam, and I headed to my favorite grocery store…

I had to use the bathroom while I was there and their bathroom designations cracked me up. Of course, I chose Clemson!!!

Some of my cousins that I haven’t seen in probably close to 10 years dropped by for a visit. It was fun to talk with them for a bit and Sam definitely enjoyed hanging out and reading with Deana.

Sam enjoyed eating some of Mama’s “meals on wheels”- since she has celiac disease too, she isn’t supposed to eat some of the items she receives. Therefore, Sam ate them and my dad made Mama a GF meal 🙂 Again, Sam ate in the walker.

While we were there, I tried to get some pictures of Mama but sometimes she wasn’t very cooperative…

and so I changed sides of the room and she felt the need to stick her lollipop-red tongue out in my picture. 🙂

But then, I finally got a good one. She loves word searches!!!

Bedtimes were pretty easy- we wore Sam out!! This was actually the day we went to the zoo and so he didn’t get a nap. I will blog that one later.

One morning there was a huge flock of Canadian geese across the street!!!

That same morning, we went to Dobson’s hardware and the grocery store. The hardware store sells really cool SC stuff and jewelry in one part of their store and I LOVE being able to go see what they have. This time, I got a football ring which is in Saints colors (they probably had them because it is also the same colors as my dad’s high school- Greer High.)

After the hardware store we went to the grocery store. Sam felt the need to wear a towel cape into the grocery store. Silly little 3 year old!

That afternoon, Sam helped with Mama’s exercises. She walks laps around her house and my dad walks behind her in case she gets shaky. Well, since Sam was there, he decided he needed to ride the wheelchair behind Dad Buddy to keep them all moving. HA!

That night, we were going to go to my Aunt’s to swim but just as soon as we got there it started thundering and so Sam and I grabbed some supper and came back home. It never did rain although it was showing rain all over the radar. Therefore, I let Sam ride his bike on the driveway.

HA! I joked that when I am gone, this is probably how Sam will remember me… behind a camera!

We had a great visit but, by the end, we were both ready to get back home to Daddy.
