While the lower part of the state is still waiting on the rain to stop and Trey left to head to his boat, we decided to head to Natchitoches for a fun little trip. It was SOOO hot but the weather was perfectly clear. I love this little town and enjoy “escaping” to there periodically.

As we drove by the Steel Magnolias house, I attempted to take a picture. This was the best shot I got.

Fort St. Jean de Baptiste was having a special event today and so we went there to check it out. It is a really cool Fort. There is a visitor’s center-type building where they have displays and a movie you can watch.

To get to the actual fort, you have to walk a little ways from the visitor’s center.

The soldiers’ sleeping quarters had bunk beds. Sam wanted to try to climb the ladder they used to get in and out the bed.

Here are some pictures to share about the Fort a bit better…

They also have a children’s area where there are clothes that kids can put on to pretend they are soldiers. I can’t believe Sam dressed up in those wool uniforms since it was SO HOT and he was quite sweaty.

It was a fun little trip. We would like to go back (when it is cooler) and have a picnic down by the river. Hopefully we will be able to do it.
