This was Sam’s first Halloween in Louisiana. We don’t “trick or treat” and so I scoped out places to go for some fun and games. Our zoo does a “Zoo Boo” for 3 nights so that was what we did first. Travis came home a little early and helped finish getting Sam ready.

This year, Sam wanted to be Alvin from “Alvin and the Chipmunks.” It was definitely an easy outfit to make and looked really cute when we were finished!

I originally planned for him to wear shorts under his shirt but it was COLD the night we went to the zoo!

We had been told it was a popular event to go to but we didn’t think it was THAT popular! We got there a few minutes before it was supposed to start and stood in line for the majority of the time it was open. Thankfully, Sam was a good sport and enjoyed walking back and forth across the parking lot.

Finally, we got inside! The first thing Sam checked out was a witches’ cauldron that had glow in the dark snakes and other things in it. It was kind of cool.

Then we found a spider web!

Next, we walked through various sections where local businesses would decorate and pass out candies and goodies. At one point, you can choose to go the not-scary route on the very scary route and, since we “don’t do scary”, we went the not-scary route. It was cute!

Sam saw this one and started singing “you got to move it move it…” HA!

Fun little photo op…

These girls loved Sam’s outfit. Sam loved these 3 girls. It was hilarious! However, he would NOT do his hands like an Egyptian.

Mine and Travis’ favorite part was towards the end- it was the Ghostbusters!!!! It was kind of funny because it seemed that the parents were more into this one than the kids- probably because we all grew up watching it and the kiddos have NO CLUE! It was too cute!
Slimer!

Sam liked the Tater Tot from Sonic…

It was fun and we will definitely do it again- we will just get there a bit earlier so we don’t have to wait so long. 🙂

When we got home, we had a “family project” for Sam’s school- his class was responsible for decorating pumpkins that were to be displayed and awarded “ribbons” during Emmanuel’s Fall Festival on Halloween. We decided to be goofy and do a split personality pumpkin with Mr. Potato Head pieces. Travis drilled the holes and Sam and I decided where things should go. We like how it turned out!

On Halloween Day, Sam had a little party at school and all the kids got to wear their costumes. I showed up and took a few pictures.

Then they had circle time and played a little activity similar to “Hot Potato” except when the music stopped you got to take a piece of candy out of the pumpkin.

Then it was playground time!

Sam with the Day School Director, Mrs. Gayle. He thought it was HILARIOUS that she dressed as an “Angry Bird.”

Obviously, all the Halloween festivities at school wore him out!

After a good nap and supper, we headed back to Emmanuel for their Fall Festival. The Pre-K pumpkins greeted us as we got off the elevator to go to the gym. Sam’s pumpkin won the award for “silliest pumpkin.”

Then we went into the gym and Sam went to playing games.
