Preschool play date!

The church we have been actively visiting lately, Philadelphia BC, has a VERY active preschool department. We really are enjoying it. This is the church where I go to MOPS and so this was a combined playmate open to church families and MOPS families. We went to The T.R.E.E.house, the children’s museum in Alexandria that I blogged about earlier. Since I didn’t take many pictures last time, I brought along my camera and snapped a few near the beginning so that I could share them on the blog.
Sam’s favorite part was the police car- complete with flashing lights!

He also liked pushing the buttons to make various train sounds at the model train exhibit.

The view from inside one of the engines. I think I posted about this earlier but, just in case, they installed a camera inside one of the engines and have connected it to the TV so kids can get an idea of what you see as you drive a train around. It is neat.

The train exhibit even has alligators!!

This is what Sam prepared for me. Apparently I need to eat my veggies and an Oreo. 🙂

Afterwards, we went to Chick-Fil-A with the preschool minister, Mrs. Pam, and a couple of other moms and their kids. Sam ate and played even more on the playground. Now we are home and he is taking a good nap!

I want Jesus to live in my belly

I am just re-posting my Facebook status so I can have a blog record of this cute conversation I had with Sam this morning.

Sam and I were in the car listening to The Getty’s Christmas album and they say something about “the darkness” and Sam asks what that is. I tell him they are talking about sin. He asks what that is. I tell him it is when we do bad things that make God sad. He asked how to make God happy. I say to ask Jesus to live in our hearts and help us to do good. He said he didn’t want Jesus to live in his heart. I asked why and he told me he wanted Jesus to live in his belly. Hmm….

Because I feel like I can’t blog without a picture, he is a funny picture of Sam that I made with an app on my iPhone. It was a free app to help promote the new Dr. Seuss movie, “The Lorax.”

March= videos > photos

For some reason, I have taken more videos than photos this month. It feels kind of odd to me bc I feel like I constantly take photos. However, if I compare my YouTube channel and my online photo albums, that is what I discover. Odd…

Therefore, for simplicity’s sake, this will be a post full of random videos from this month…
One of Sam’s piano concerts…

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get the app to open fast enough on my phone so I only got the tail end of the concert. Oh well…

Sam LOVES to “exercise” with LC’s football team… he participates by running back and forth across our yard as they run up and down our street and then he will do some of the stretches. The players enjoy it and are now yelling back to Sam, smiling, and laughing. He is such a blessing!

Another “exercise” video…

You don’t have to be around Sam long to learn that he LOVES music and singing. He also LOVES SuperWhy!, a show on PBS that helps kids learn how to spell. He also enjoys singing along to the theme song and, thankfully, he let me video it one morning.

Last night, Sam just randomly started singing “Yellow Submarine” by the Beatles. I didn’t even know he knew that song! He was singing it at the right speed until I tried to video and then he sung it in fast-forward. It is kind of funny…

Sam LOVES to read. He even has quite a few sight words he can recognize (Polly, Diggory, Edmund, Lucy, Susan, Peter, Narnia, Aslan, God, Moses, Pineville, Alexandria, Louisiana, and quite a few other atypical sight words.) Last weekend, I took advantage of a sale at LifeWay and a coupon to get him an early reader’s Bible. It is designed for kids 4 – 7 years old and it uses a minimal amount of words so they can start learning to read. He LOVES it! The two videos below are of him reading. The first couple of nights, he would repeat each word after Travis and then the last two nights, he has actually read a few sentences by himself. Each time, these have been on completely new stories- we aren’t just reading the sam story over and over again. We are so proud of our “reading” 3 year old!!!

If anyone wants to know, we use The Early Reader’s Bible from Zonderkidz. We highly recommend it. Here is a picture I took of the page Sam was reading in the 2nd video. The pictures are simple yet colorful. The words are easy yet still tell the story.
